The Global Alliance for Green and Gender Action (GAGGA) is a coalition of powerful grassroots voices uniting across continents to fight for climate, gender, and environmental justice. Their work supports women and marginalized communities on the frontlines of local movements—with bold global advocacy to match. When GAGGA approached us, it was clear that their digital platform had not kept pace with their scale, ambition, or voice. They weren’t just looking for a website refresh—they needed a digital home that could reflect who they are, what they stand for, and where they’re going next.

As a web development agency that specializes in custom WordPress development and scalable website solutions, we immediately saw the opportunity to help GAGGA take a meaningful leap forward online.

Building More Than a Website

One of the first things we learned in our discovery conversations was that GAGGA’s old website had become more of a limitation than a tool. As a growing international alliance, they were constantly producing multilingual reports, sharing campaign updates, and coordinating across dozens of partners. But outdated navigation, limited backend functionality, and lack of content structure made this all harder than it needed to be.

Information was buried. Updates were difficult. And worst of all, the site didn’t reflect GAGGA’s identity—visually or functionally.

We knew this needed more than a redesign. It needed a rethink.

Listening, Then Building

We started by asking questions—and then listening. What does visibility mean for a global movement? How do you design a site that supports both grassroots organizers and international funders? What kinds of content workflows would make life easier for their distributed team?

Together with GAGGA, we mapped out core goals:

  • A seamless content structure that elevated key publications
  • A multilingual backend to support global outreach
  • A bold, accessible interface that reflects their values

To bring this vision to life, GAGGA partnered with a creative design artist to lead the visual direction, while Oddly handled the information architecture, development, and backend build. WordPress was the natural choice for this project—it offers the balance of power, flexibility, and user-friendliness that organizations like GAGGA need. We custom-built a Gutenberg block-based CMS to allow for content creation without dependency on developers, making the platform both powerful and easy to use.

With the new build, an interactive map became a centerpiece of the experience—an intuitive, visual way for users to explore GAGGA’s partner organizations across different regions. We designed and implemented a custom map interface, allowing users to zoom in by geography and learn more about local partners and their work. This wasn’t just a design feature—it was an embodiment of GAGGA’s collaborative ethos, bringing their network to life in a dynamic and accessible way.

A Platform Built for Purpose

The result is a website that feels fresh, intuitive, and mission-aligned—both for the users visiting it and the team managing it. From the homepage to the publication archive, we designed each page to highlight GAGGA’s work in clear, digestible ways. The content management system now allows GAGGA’s team to upload reports, add languages, and tag resources with ease—no technical expertise required.

Navigation flows were restructured to give high-traffic sections, like campaigns and funding updates, proper visibility. SEO best practices were implemented throughout to improve discoverability. And since GAGGA’s audience spans languages and geographies, we ensured the CMS was built to accommodate multilingual content from day one.

To support long-term success, we wrapped up with in-depth CMS training, a full QA sweep, and go-live support. The handoff wasn’t a goodbye—it was an invitation for the GAGGA team to confidently take charge of their platform.

The Result: A Digital Home That Reflects a Global Mission

What we delivered wasn’t just a site—it was a scalable, future-ready platform rooted in clarity, accessibility, and autonomy. Today, GAGGA can focus on what they do best: mobilizing communities, advocating for justice, and telling powerful stories—backed by a website that finally feels like theirs.

For us, this project is a testament to what custom WordPress development can achieve when approached with intention and collaboration. It’s the kind of work we love—where strategy, design, and social impact meet. And it reminds us that even in the digital space, the right platform can amplify the right voices at exactly the right time.
